Meet the 2010 Midget Coaching Staff

Brad will be returning as our Midget Head Coach in 2010. Brad has had many years of coaching and playing experience. After finishing his high-school playing days in Edmonton at McNally Composite High School, Brad spent two seasons coaching with the McNally Tigers. Brad has also coached soccer at the high school level, as well as minor baseball in Edmonton. Brad has been involved with the Wolverines for six seasons.

Wally is entering his 23nd year as a coach. He has coached at all levels, from Atom right through to High School. His accomplishments include three league championships, six divisional titles and a Northern Alberta championship. Wally has coached extensively at all positions. He has spent the past four seasons as the Head Coach of the Elk Island Lightning Bantam team, and will return to that team for the 2010 Bantam season. Wally served as the Wolverines' head coach for the team's first three seasons, and is in large part responsible for the success that the Wolverines have enjoyed.

Blain returns to the 2010 Midgets for his fifth season as the Defensive Coordinator, and will coach the linebackers as well. After coaching football from 1970 to 1992 at every level from Atom to high school, Blain spent his next ten seasons with the Salisbury Sabres; six years with the Sabres Senior team as a defensive coach, and the last three years as the Head Coach of the Junior team. Blain's credentials include a division championship, a conference championship and three Northern Alberta championships. Blain has been the Defensive Coordinator for the Elk Island Lightning Bantam team for the past three seasons. This is his seventh year with the Wolverines.

Anthony re-joins the Wolverines this year as a third-year football coach. After playing his minor football with the Edmonton Chargers, Anthony played with the McNally Tigers from 2000 to 2002 and was invited to the St. Mary's Huskies training camp. Although his playing career was cut short by injuries, Anthony gained the benefit of learning from mentors at a very high level, including CFL and NCAA Division I and II coaches. He now looks forward to once again passing that knowledge on to our Midget team, and the Wolverines are pleased to have Anthony's expertise and abilities.

Gord is now entering his fifth season as a minor football coach. He began his coaching career with the Edmonton Seahawks organization, where he spent two seasons before beginning his Sherwood Park tenure as a linebackers and running backs coach with the Sherwood Park Bulldogs. For the past two seasons, Gord coached linebackers with the Wolverine Bantam team. Gord played his high school football in Edmonton as a member of the O'Leary Spartans.

Brad returns to the Midget Wolverines this year for his fifth season. He has been involved in football for ten seasons, the first three of which he spent as a player with the Salisbury Sabres High School team. He has spent time coaching in the PeeWee Division, where he was a Special Teams coach for the Sherwood Park Colts. Brad has also played numerous other sports, including hockey and soccer.
