Head Coach
Shaun Bannink (NCCP Level I)
Shaun returms as Head Coach. Prior to coaching our Wolverines last year, Shaun served as the Head Coach for the Bev Facey Falcons Junior Varsity squad. He was one of the original Wolverine coaches when the team was formed for the 2001 season, serving for four seasons as the Defensive Coordinator. Following that, he served with the Wolverine Midgets as the Defensive Coordinator in 2005. From 2003 to 2007, he amassed an impressive record with the Facey Juniors, winning city championships in ’03 and ’07. He has also served as the Defensive Coordinator for two seasons with the Bev Facey Senior team. In 2008 Coach Bannink coached on the U-17 team and on the defensive staff for the U-19 Senior Bowl team. He also won a Provincial High School Senior championship 2002 as the Offensive Line coach at Facey, and as defensive coordinator of the Falcon Senior team won the Northern title in 2005. He was also appointed as the Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach for the 2008 Senior Bowl team. |
Defensive Backs Coach
Rob Bishop (NCCP Level III)
The Wolverines are pleased to welcome Rob back to the staff for his third season with the team. Rob has nine years of coaching experience, four at the Bantam level, including the 2005 season as the Defensive Coordinator for the Elk Island Lightning. He was on the PeeWee Bulldog staff in 2006. Rob played for two seasons at the High School level, where he won a pair of championships with the Senator Riley-Highwood Mustangs. |
Running Backs Coach
Tyler Blair
The Wolverines are pleased to have Tyler Blair join our staff for his first season. Tyler played High School football with 3 years as starter for the Will Sinclair High School Rebels in Rocky Mountain House. In High School Tyler played Center, Linebacker and was a long snapper, 1998 Kinsmen Bowl Champions, 1998 Norther Alberta Tier 3 Provincial Champions, and Tyler was named 3 Time 1st Team CAHSFL All Star. Following reconstructive shoulder surgery in the year 2000, Tyler played CJFL for the Windsor AKO Fratmen and the Chilliwack Valley Huskers in 2001 and then spent the '02-03 seasons with the Abbotsford Airforce as a Fullback and long snapper. Tyler's coaching career includes Offensive Line/Assisant Offensive Coordinator 200 (Rocky Rebels), Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs Coach 2003-2005 (Rocky Rebels), 2004 Lions Bowl Champions. In 2004 Tyler coached and mentored RB Cas Varcoe who was the CAHSFL Offensive Player Of The Year and went on to win a national championship with the Edmonton Huskies. In addition to Running Backs Coach, Tyler will be assisting Coach Cas with Offense. |
Defensive Line Coach
Ken Chapman
Ken comes to the Wolverines for his first season this year. He brings with him seven seasons of playing experience, where he won two City High School Championships, one Provincial High School Championship, two BCJFL Championships and a National Championship with the Okanagan Sun, where he was named as a First-Team All Star for two years running. Ken finished his playing career with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. As a coach, he spent three seasons with the Sal Sabres and one year with the Bantam Rams. He has been with the PeeWee SabreCats for the past two seasons.
Ken has also coached minor baseball and lacrosse. The Wolverines are pleased and excited to have Ken joining the staff for 2008. |
Offensive Line Coach
Chris Ehrman (NCCP Level 1)
The Wolverines are pleased to welcome back Chris, as he enters his second season with the Wolverines. He played two years Bantam for the Edmonton Seahawks. Chris played high school ball for M.E. LaZerte High School, where he was selected for Team North Alberta in 2002. Following high school he played three years with the Edmonton Huskies, winning a National Championship in 2004. Chris has spent the last five years coaching M.E. LaZerte, and last year with the Wolverines. |
Linebackers Coach
Gord Grof (NCCP Level 1)
The Wolverines are pleased to welcome Gord back to the staff for his second season with the team. He is starting his fifth year coaching football. He began his coaching career with the Edmonton Seahawks organization where he spent two seasons before beginning his Sherwood Park tenure as a linebackers and running backs coach with the Sherwood Park Bulldogs. Last season, Gord coached linebackers with the Wolverines Bantam team and this spring with the Wolverines Midget team. A resident of the city, Gord played his high school football with the O'Leary Spartans. |
Defensive Backs Coach
Justin Halbersma (NCCP Level I)
The Wolverines are pleased to have Justin join our staff for his first season. Justin coached with the Sherwood Park Atom Warriors for two years and Sherwood Park Cougars for two. Also a Wolverine parent last year, Justin moves into the coaching ranks this year with the Wolverines. |
Receivers Coach
Gary Launhart (NCCP Level I)
The Wolverines are pleased to have Gary join our staff for his first season. Gary has been involved in minor football in Sherwood Park for over 6 years. Gary took last year off from coaching football, but has coached at the PeeWee level for two years with the Bulldogs and at the Atom level previously for two years with the Broncos. Gary has enjoyed success as a coach at both levels with the Bulldogs capturing the Tier I Championship in 2007 and a Tier II Championship with the Broncos in 2005. In addition, Gary is entering into his second year as the Wolverines Equipment Director and has also been involved in this capacity with SCMFA as well. Gary also coaches competitive basketball with SBA (over five years with the boys and two with the girls programs). Gary's coaching focus is on the fundamentals in both sports and has had the pleasure of having coached some talented individuals and some very special teams over his coaching career. |

Tim McFadyen
The Wolverines are pleased to have Tim join our staff for his first season. Tim played his minor football career in Sherwood Park at the Atom, PeeWee and Bantam level. He played three years of High School football in Quebec where he was an All-Star Defensive player for all three years. This is Tim's first full-time coaching experience. |

Cas Morgan (NCCP Level II)
The Wolverines are pleased to welcome Cas back to the staff for his second season with the team. Last year with the Wolverines Cas coached the running backs. His previous football coaching experience includes the Wolverines from the SCMFA ranks, where he spent four seasons; first as an Assistant Coach with the Atom Warriors, and subsequently two seasons with the PeeWee Cougars. His last season was as the Cougar's Head Coach. |

Jerry Schmidt
The Wolverines are pleased to have Jerry join our staff this season. Jerry coached at the PeeWee level for two years with the Bulldogs and at the Atom level previously for two years with the Broncos. Both teams had success with the Bulldogs capturing the Tier I Championship in 2007 and a Tier II Championship with the Broncos in 2005. Jerry has also enjoyed football sucess as a plyer at many different levels. Also a Wolverine parent last year, this year Jerry moves into the coaching ranks this year with the Wolverines. |

Deny Tse (NCCP Level II)
The Wolverines are pleased to have Deny join our staff on a part-time basis this season. Deny played three years of High School football at East Glen. Deny coached with the Sherwood Park Cougars last year to a Tier III CDMFA championship. This year Deny is also coaching with the Sherwood Park Raiders. |
