On Thursday, April 22, 2010, the Wolverines lost a member of their family. We are sad to advise you of the passing of one of our coaches, Rob Kerr. Rob coached for four years before coming to our family for the 2010 season. He worked a lot with Deny over the past months and was excited about joining our team.
Those four years were spent coaching in the SCMFA – two years at atom with the Warriors and two years with the Sabre Cats at pee wee. Rob was spoken highly of as he worked often quietly and always remained calm on the sidelines. He enjoyed working with the players who wanted the extra help and took the time to spend with them helping them along with their skills. He was a great father, husband, coach and a fantastic person who will be missed by all.
A trust fund has been set up for the children. All donations can be made at the TD Canada Trust by the Sherwood Park Mall. Anyone can go in and make a donation to that trust fund

We're Having a Birthday!
No doubt you have noticed the "Tenth Anniversary" logo that we are showcasing on the front page of the Club Site.
When we reflected last season on the fact that 2010 would be our tenth year, we decided that we simply had to have a way of commemorating the event. For a few of us who are still around and remember those days in 2000 when we were working so hard to put the team together for our first game in August of 2001, it seems that the time has flown by so fast. It also amazes us when we reflect on how far the Wolverines have come in just ten short years.
Here is a short list of just of a few of the memorable accomplishments over the years:
-We played our first ever game on August 18, 2001 against the West Edmonton Raiders. We lost that game 28-6 (one of seven losses that first year) but it was highlighted by Graeme McLeod scoring the Wolverine's first ever touchdown on a three-yard plunge after a drive engineered by Wolverine quarterback Todd Ruptash.
-Our first ever passing touchdown was scored on August 25, 2002 when Andrew Berriman tossed an 11-yard strike to Landon Yeremy. The game against the Seahawks ended with a 12-6 Wolverine victory.
-On Sept. 11, 2005 Korbyn Doblanko set the current team record for the most touchdowns in a single game, scoring four against the Northstars. Several players had shared the previous record of three, including Landon Yeremy, Justin Davis, Will Beamish, Kent Letourneau and Alex Von Hauff.
-On Oct. 9, 2004 Alex Von Hauff set a team record that still stands for the most offensive yardage by a single player, when he destroyed the St. Albert Fury defense with 306 yards and three touchdowns. The game also marks the most yardage gained by the team in a single game with 440 yards total.
-In 2007 we won our first CDMFA Championship, in a memorable game against the West Edmonton Raiders. Although we weren't successful in the Provincial game at Foote Field that year against the Calgary Mavericks, it was a great season and one that the Club will always remember.
-We were one of the originating Midget teams, and are one of the few Clubs (and the only Sherwood Park club) to field a team in the Midget Division every single season.
Yes, in the grand scheme of things the Wolverines are still a young franchise. But ten years is a significant milestone, and we're proud of it. The new logo will be displayed on team wear this season, and our Bantam and Midget players will be displaying the logo in the form of a patch on our jerseys.
Way to go, Wolverines! It's been a grand ten seasons, and here's looking to ten more!

For the tenth season in a row, the Wolverines are now holding our annual Gym Nites.
This session will again include Registration and Gym Activities. Players, make sure to bring your gym wear (shorts and T-shirt or sweats, and water bottle) and running shoes, and come prepared to work out and have fun!
In each of our last two seasons, we've had great turnout on each of the events. It's always a great opportunity to showcase the Wolverine philosophy to prospective players and parents. We truly appreciate the effort that these folks show in coming out and informing themselves on our program by talking to us, asking lots of questions and (hopefully) getting lots of answers. Like we say on our FAQ page, if you want to know something about our program, don't talk to others; talk to us!!
The next step in the process is our formal registration and try-outs. Although we will be having designated Registration Days, the fact is that we are already actively registering players and we are very excited about the new players that are joining the team. You can click here to send the webmaster a message with any question you like, or call Coach Deny Tse (his cotact information is below).
Soon after, we will have our May tryouts and final selections. Then it will be holiday time until mid-July when camp starts, in preparation for the season start in early August.
